CME 2018 -“Physiotherapy Moving Towards Professional Advocacy”

One day CME was organised by the St. Andrew’s College of Physiotherapy on 19/08/2018 by 9:30 am. The subject of the CME was “Physiotherapy Moving Towards Professional Advocacy” The eminent speakers were Dr Sudeep Kale (President of Maharashtra State OTPT Council), Dr Aditi Shah (Anatomist & Counsellor), Dr Farooq Khan, (HOD Department of Physiotherapy Noble Hospital Hadapsar), Dr Ujwal Yeole (Principal of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Pune), Dr Sagar Mahajan, Advocate Aviraj Deshmukh and Mr Suryavanshi.

The CME was attended by 100 students and faculties of different Physiotherapy Colleges.

The registration was started at 8:15 am, followed by breakfast.

All the teaching and non-teaching staff of St. Andrews College of Physiotherapy was present.

Tejal Pardeshi was the anchor for the day. The CME was started by prayer followed by Ganeshvandana and Lamp lighting.

Dr Albin Jerome Principal of St. Andrew’s College of Physiotherapy welcomed Dr David K Pillay Sir the founder of St. Andrew’s Education Foundation in his absence,Dr Jecintha K. Pillai Madam Director of St Andrew’s Education Foundation, chief guest of the function Dr Sudeep Kale, Mr.Isaac Bhaskar the Chairperson of  Andrew’s Education Foundation, Dr Indra madam Director of St. Andrew’s Education Foundation, Dr Vyenkatesh Bhandari the Administrative Officer, Mr Padmanabhan the Campus Director, Dr Aditi Shah Dr Mander Deo, Dr Farooq Khan, Dr Ujwal Yeole, students and teaching and non-teaching staff of St. Andrews College of Physiotherapy.

The welcome speech was followed by the brief speech of the Dr Jecintha K. Pillai Madam who focused on the glorious journey of the Foundation and about the future plans of the institution.

Mr Isaac Bhaskar Sir talked about the value ethics of the students by narrating the true stories.

Dr Sudeep Kale Sir delivered a talk on “Physiotherapy practice in Maharashtra and the scope and rights of the registered Physiotherapist”. The talk focused on the Physiotherapy council, council rights, its duties and the various legal facts about Physiotherapy Profession.

Dr Farooq Khan talked about how to set up a Physiotherapy Clinical Practice and Dr Aditi Shaha spoke about the effective communication skills and how to develop repo with the patient.

Dr Ujwal Yeole described about “Empowering Physiotherapist with Professional Advocacy”.

This was followed by lunch Break and Post lunch session started at 2 pm.

Advocate Aviraj Deshmukh discussed about the Role, Responsibilities and Medico legal Aspects of Physiotherapy and Legal position of a practicing Physiotherapist.

The last talk of the session was delivered by Mr Suryavanshi on “How digital marketing can help revolutionize the concepts of physiotherapy”
